" Delicious Veg food..."

I have visited Matheran in august 2016 . I stay here during my trip and breakious fast , lunch and dinner is really delicious. Staff is courteous and location is close to nature. Amazing place to stay for family traveller..

"Good option for weekend...."

No need of AC rooms in monsoon or winter. Climate is superb in this season rooms are good and clean. perfect for all travelers like couples, family, groups. bit far from matheran station and very far from aman lodge or dasturi. but its fun if u are in a group. food: Amazing quality, so many options, so many variety even only u r there. Food and kitchen staff are the plus point of this place. Really good option for weekend with group. Room Tip: any rooms which are facing pool Stayed July 2015, travelled as a couple..

"Good budget hotel"

We 8 friends, all women, stayed at Hotel. We were given a huge room in the main bungalow which had 4 comfortable double beds. Though all 8 of us were in the same room there was enough open space for us to move around without bumping into each other. Just outside the room was a huge balcony with cots and chairs to laze around. Though this hotel is away from the market about a km, we preferred it as it is spread over a huge area and is surrounded by thick tree cover. Moreover u are spared the hustle and bustle of the market and the noise. good for people looking for solitude and peace. A small swimming pool provides the fun activity for children and adults. In the evening they have a magic show or any other activity. the breakfast, lunch and dinner is tasty and sumptuous. the staff is very courteous and prompt. only thing that needs a little attention is the toilet and bathroom. can do with a little more cleaning. Not recommended for people who do not want to walk. Then in that case no point in going to Matheran bcoz it is a walkers' paradise. Stayed May 2016, traveled with friends.

"Good food & Best place for group booking"

Check in was pathetic as the hotel PIC was unaware of our arrival. Was Very disappointed that time. Also even after informing in advance there was no food (lunch) kept for us. Hotel is far off from main market which makes us walk long on sloppy & muddy road. Also They charged us more though we paid in advance in compare to the rates given by local hotel admin office for the same hotel ( it was 500 rs less than what we paid - felt like we were cheated). Hotel has huge area, Staff is courtesy but they dont really connect over phone was room service. You have to go & call them each time. Food was the best I could get over there. Room very spacious & clean enough for good stay. One more advantage is all beautiful point in matheran are walking distance from this hotel Stayed April 2016, travelled as a couple .

"Great for large groups !!!"

I'm just back after a rocking weekend in Matheran with stay at Ashok Hotel. Although I have been to Matheran innumerable number of times, it was the first time that I stayed here, as I was a part of a large group of almost 35 people. This hotel has its own pros and cons and it would be apt to weigh both of them before choosing to stay here. The hotel property is huge and spacious with areas and provisions for playing volley ball, table tennis, carrom and other games. The sport accessories may not be in the best condition and it would be advisable to carry ur stuff if u wish to play. The swimming pool is a small one but nevertheless people seemed to enjoy it a lot (however I didn't step inside). We stayed opposite the rooms facing the swimming pool which was good old dormitory styled accommodation. Our room was spacious with 4 double beds and attached bathroom. Although old, the rooms are adequately neat and comfortable. The ants and insects are a part and parcel considering that you are staying right in the middle of a forest on a mountain. So be ready for these little guests! Coming to their USP: The fantastic food. Each meal we had there was memorable and simply delicious. No complaints about anything when it comes to food. Lunch consisted daily of 3 sabjis, rotis, Farsan, chutneys, papad, sweet, rice, dal and buttermilk. Dinner was fancier, with stuff like pav bhaji, a live Bhel counter, batata wada along with some basic kadhi chawal too. Food certainly is their USP and something you just cannot miss! The adventure junkies have something to look out for as well. Ashok hotel has tied up with an adventure group who makes best use of their jungle property to provide activities like wall climbing, rappelling, burma bridge, rope walking etc. at reasonable prices. The tourist attractions are a little far away from here. But if your aim is not sightseeing but just having fun with your group within the property, this sure is the right place to be in.

"Good food but need to look at cleanliness of room and service  "

We had visited Hotel Ashok in July. The rooms here are average and cleanliness is not good. However, the hotel is pure veg and serve really good vegetarian and Jain food. Would recommend for only one or two day picnic.
